About Salamander Fabrications
Established in Huddersfield in 1968, Salamander Fabrications is a full-service sheet metal fabrication company that works with organisations all over the country to create high-quality fabricated metal products with an exceptional customer experience. Our company provides a complete range of CNC machining services, and we pride ourselves on our ability to offer both full-service sheet metal fabrication and sub-contracting services. It’s no wonder we have been the UK’s chosen choice for sheet metal fabrication solutions for over 50 years, with an expert team providing end-to-end machining services.
Our Story
Salamander Fabrications was founded by Huddersfield-born Brian Haskell in 1968 and had a modest beginning, with just three employees working from premises not much bigger than a modern double garage. Salamander’s first big contract was with the Derbyshire Police Force, which saw us tasked with the supply of a mobile canteen. For several years, we continued to work within the food and catering sectors however, as the business and our client base grew and diversified, we’ve gone on to sub-contract and supply to a broad range of sectors and businesses.
In the last 50 years, we’ve seen a lot of changes in our business, as we’re always looking to stay ahead of the curve, adapt to new technologies and ways of working, and expand our offering to ensure our clients are always getting the best possible products and services when they work with us.

1968
Salamander Fabrications was founded, initially working out of an old mill building!
1977
We moved into a purpose-built manufacturing unit on a site in Slaithwaite, Huddersfield.
1982
Our first automatic indexing punching station is installed.
1984
Current Managing Director Michael Haskell starts working at Salamander Fabrications as an apprentice.
1993
Our first CNC press brake is installed.
1994
We install our second CNC punching machine.
1994
Radan machine programming CAD/CAM software is installed for the first time.
2000
We installed our SOLIDWORKS 3D drawing package for the first time.
2007
We implemented the new Radan E2i manufacturing system.
2012
Michael Haskell becomes Managing Director, 28 years after first starting with Salamander Fabrications!
2012
We carried out an exciting management restructure.
2013
We build our new factory extension and are able to install a brand-new flatbed fibre laser.
2014
To improve efficiency and capacity, we brought in new shift patterns for our manufacturing team.
2015
We installed our fully automated, conveyor-fed powder coating line.
2018
We are proud to be accredited by ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001 standards as of 2018.
2019
We successfully migrated to International Standard EN ISO 45001:2018 for Health and Safety.
2020
Further significant investment in an additional Bystronic laser and fully automated 200 location sheet storage system.
2022
Work starts on office extension giving an additional 60% more office space - watch this space for more information.
